Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 10, 2026
Canadian Biotech Limited (“we”, “us”) operates this website for CheckFor®. This policy describes what we collect, why we use it, and your choices. It is for general information and does not constitute legal advice; consult qualified counsel for your situation and jurisdiction.
Information you give us directly
- Contact and sales inquiries — When you use our contact form or similar channels, we receive the details you submit (for example name, email, company, phone, and message).
- Distributor and partner applications — When you apply to become a distributor or partner, we receive the application fields you complete.
Location data
Depending on how you use the site, location may be involved in more than one way:
- Browser geolocation (optional) — Some features, such as product authenticity verification and optional flows related to test or result submission, may ask your browser for permission to share approximate latitude and longitude. You can refuse; the feature may still work with reduced location detail. When shared, coordinates may be stored with the related record for product integrity, safety, and anti-counterfeiting purposes.
- Store locator — Our store locator (a separate web experience that may be linked from this site) uses map position and optional device location to list nearby retailers. See the Store locator section below.
- IP-based estimates — Like most websites, our servers receive an IP address when you connect. That can be used to derive a coarse geographic area and for security and abuse prevention. It is not the same as precise GPS from your device.
Store locator
We may offer a store locator to help you find retailers that carry CheckFor products. It is operated for the same purposes as this site (helping you find products and support partners). In addition to the general points above, the locator works as follows:
- Map position and “Near me” — The map has a default view so you can browse without sharing GPS. If you choose Near me (or similar), your browser may prompt you for permission; if you allow it, we receive latitude and longitude only as needed to centre the map and list stores by distance.
- Finding nearby stores — To compute distance and ranking, latitude and longitude (from your chosen map centre or from GPS) are sent to our servers with your request. We use that information to return a list of nearby stores. Our application logic does not need to retain those search coordinates in the locator database for that request to succeed; however, standard server or CDN logs may record request details (which can include coordinates in URL parameters) for security and operations, in line with our hosting setup.
- Google Maps — The locator map is provided using the Google Maps Platform (or similar mapping services). When you use the map, Google’s terms and privacy notices apply to how they process data in the browser. Address geocoding when partners save store locations may also use Google’s Geocoding API on our servers.
- Locator analytics — We may record first-party analytics on the locator, such as when the locator is opened, when you use filters, when you open directions or call a store from the map (which may include a store identifier), and when you arrive via a QR code or short link (campaign attribution). We may use a session cookie (for example an httpOnly cookie with an anonymous session id) to group events. These analytics help us understand use of the locator and campaigns; they are separate from Microsoft Clarity on the main marketing site unless both are present on the same page.
Product verification and related technical data
When you verify a code or submit information linked to a test (for example serial numbers, batch information, or test outcomes where applicable), we may process:
- The verification or product codes you enter or scan;
- Optional location from the browser, as described above;
- Technical identifiers such as IP address and browser user agent;
- Timestamps and outcome of the request (for example authentic, not authentic, or recalled product handling).
We use this information to operate verification services, support regulatory and quality processes, detect misuse, and protect patients and supply chains.
Analytics and similar technologies
We use analytics to understand how our services are used and to improve content and performance. On this marketing site, that may include Microsoft Clarity (or comparable tools), which can use cookies or similar technologies to collect information such as pages viewed, interactions, and device/browser characteristics. Data may be processed by those providers under their terms and privacy policies.
The store locator may use first-party analytics (events stored in our systems) as described in the Store locator section.
Where we refer to “aggregated” or “anonymized” statistics, we mean information that does not identify you directly, though combined data can sometimes still be considered personal data under some laws.
Cookies
We and our analytics partners may set cookies or use local storage where needed for site function, preferences, or measurement. The store locator may set an httpOnly session cookie to support anonymous analytics, as described under Store locator. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may limit certain features.
Sharing and international transfers
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with service providers who assist us (for example hosting, email delivery, analytics, or verification infrastructure), subject to appropriate safeguards. Some providers may process data in countries other than your own.
Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, regulatory, and safety requirements. Verification and related logs may be retained for a period necessary for anti-counterfeiting investigations and quality oversight.
Your choices and rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights or ask questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected].
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do; continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy where permitted by law.
